I think I mentioned sometime last week that my Discovery playlists have been reall off because of listening I've had to do for work. Well, this continued into this week, which makes me oddly interedted in the reasoning behind why I enjoy this song so much. Talk about super poppy and over sweet, this is it. I mean, I guess you just find a need for that on a random Tuesday sometimes.

My Discovery Weekly playlist has been wonky for a few weeks after lots of song research for work in genres I would never normally listen to. I've been writing off a lot of what I've been hearing to that, but then this sweet little gem popped up.
Matt is from Minnesota (at least, according to Internet research). His last shows posted on ReverbNation were in 2014, so lord knows if he's even still making music (though, at least, the latest song posted to Spotify was in 2015). What struck me more was this from his bio: "I love music. I love the power of something so simplistic that somehow finds a way to completely sweep you off your feet. Music is a rare breed in this way. It is infinitely evolving and yet consistently intimate. The beauty of music is that no matter how good a song may be, the best is always yet to come. I love that." So, hey, if nothing else, we get this nice song out of it and Discovery served its purpose. Mondays are hard, especially when a three hour commute is involved. I don't often look to Discovery Weekly for my pick-me-ups, because I tend to get softer music there (still not sure where their data is coming from when I spend half of my day listening to early 00's punk pop). On the path though, I throw the list on as a play games, just to maybe catch something in the background.
Today, this song blasted on, and I was stopped. It was fun, uplifting, and so great for the morning. It's just a sweet up-beat pop rock song and totally worth checking out - and paying attention to. |
