Paul McCartney can do no wrong, and that was certainly the case in 1976 when his single with Wings became the number one song of the year. Apparently this was written in response to criticism (including from John Lennon) that Paul wrote lightweight songs. No matter what the reason, it's a classic and always and forever well loved.
And I love the idea of filling the world with silly little love songs.
Alrighty folks, time to look at the best singles to hit our ears this year!
A bit of explanation - these are all songs that have had some sort of mainstream release; no b-sides or non-single tracks from albums. These are the ones that the labels and artists saw fit to push the most, and that I personally saw fit to invade my ears on repeat throughout the year.
So, as per tradition, on this New Years Eve, let's kick things off with 15 Honorable Mentions (in alphabetical order by artist):
And in my normal traditional fashion these past few years, I'm finishing, publishing, and posting as I'm on my way out the door to a NYE get together with friends. I'm nothing if not consistent, people.
