Goo Goo Dolls - "So Alive"

But, really, how have I not posted more GGD music? A CD of theirs blares through my car speakers at least once a week, and in full. I look forward to their tours every year (11 days and counting, ladies!). So as I drove back on the highways tonight, I found myself going "surely I've used this one before" at least a handful of times.

But i was wrong!

And I've posted nothing from the new album! Readers, I continue to fail you, and for that I am sorry.

"So Alive" is the first single released from "Boxes," which wound up being a really nice balance of their ever-changing sound from the past 20+ years. It's gritty but keeps a great beat and the same incredible lyrics they've always delivered. This one is a re-invigoration and a good intro for the casual radio fan to take in. But really, keep listening beyond it. I'm just giving you a launching point here, after all. This one will envelope you in acceptance and appreciate for, well, you, and I think that's actually a hard place to get to, but not at all a bad place to be.
Feeling like a hero, but I can't fly
No, you never crash if you don't try
Took it to the edge, now I know why
Never gonna live if you're too scared to die

Gonna disconnect from the hard wire
Time to raise a flag for the cease fire
Staring down the hole inside me
Looking in the mirror, making peace with the enemy

I'm so alive

The New Electric - "Inside Out"

Mondays are hard, especially when a three hour commute is involved. I don't often look to Discovery Weekly for my pick-me-ups, because I tend to get softer music there (still not sure where their data is coming from when I spend half of my day listening to early 00's punk pop). On the path though, I throw the list on as a play games, just to maybe catch something in the background.

Today, this song blasted on, and I was stopped. It was fun, uplifting, and so great for the morning. It's just a sweet up-beat pop rock song and totally worth checking out - and paying attention to.

It's hard to make it all alone
When I'm with you it feels like home
So perfect nothing compares
With you there
It's the way you believe
Wear your heart on your sleeve
Every whisper and shout
I love you inside out
