This song in particular is one of her less-than-powerhouse songs, but I believe still one fo the most powerful songs on the album. Yes, the title implies uplifting, which is just about exactly right. The music in is goes from quietly great to something to let go to. Overall, just one of the better songs I've ever heard from her.
If you've never heard Kelly's entire album, you should get on Spotify right now and take a full listen. She both write and chooses amazing music to record. This one's for all of those out there trying to, well, figure things out.
Want to hear something different and awesome? Yeah, check this out. Choice from today comes from an awesome weekend spent with my drama family! Well, this one's a classic in my book. It actually is a part of my credo, or personal statement, at the end of my thesis from undergrad. It seems to come on every single time I'm riding around my hometown in my car, which is odd but appropriate. And as I try to figure out what my next step is, nothing seems much more appropriate. Side note, this collaboration comes out of CMT's Crossroad's, where these bands (Jennifer hailing from Sugarland) teamed up for one of the greatest specials ever. If I were going out tonight, this would be a fun dance-around-my-room and get ready song. Don't believe me? LISTEN TO IT!! =) Did you know this was the theme song for "The Daily Show"?? Me either. But I'll be sitting in the audience today!! I'm a day behind, I know, but this had to be posted because techniclally I should have thrown it up last week. But really, this is an amazing song. It's an amazing show! I just saw it on Broadway, and it just completely brightened my life. Thanks again Jonathan!! =)
If I had had a moment or two yesterday, and was better about posting on this site from my phone, this probably would have been the song hands down. Pandora played this yesterday as I was getting ready to board my plane to Nashville. Without going to much into it, I've been having serious thoughts about moving back here and being a part of the music scene down here again. It's absolutely where my heart is. Conversations yesterday and last night definitely made that clear - to have other people respond with the same passion and excitement; to have an un-erasable smile over just being at a new artist's showcase; to tear up when the flight attendant says "welcome home" at the end of her landing speech... these are the things that I'm not sure I'm ready to let do of all over again.
Heh, I just realized that the last time I got a chance to write up one of these was for a Daft Punk song, and Kanye samples them for this. Hahaha. Anywhos, it's been a bit of a rough week. Life's dealing me some unfortunate hands. But somehow this song keeps coming on my Pandora, so I'm once again going to take music as a sign. Aw man, it's been a few days. Sorry peeps. - Is it okay to say peeps? My boss asked that question the other day, and I truthfully didn't know how to respond. Anywhos, today's song comes from my Spotify list playing quietly in the background of my day. There is still something so awesome about everything out of "Tron." Daft Punk can really do no wrong. It definitely helped me press through this tedious work in front of me! |
