Okay, I'm skewing the country Friday thing a bit, not to mention having it on a Sunday. Yes, Taylor has her roots in country, and I stand by that, and therefore... this works. Anywhos, this song is so sweet, without crossing over to sickening. The simple feel is just perfect though, and the song brings smiles on a nice day.
New feature this year! I have this little sentence to the side --> "Because songs define our lives." So these are the songs that defines 2013, in my humble opinion. I certainly welcome added opinions, provided you remember this is a totally limited list made on first instincts! I already am kicking myself for leaving off more Luke Bryan, Arcade Fire, PTX, and Macklemore. There's P!nk songs that inexplicably didn't make this list, and I gotta say - I grew to adore "Wrecking Ball." But they're not here. This is what hit the musical heart most this year.
However, I do know how much good music is out there, and please comment and share more, because we need to hear it all!
If you want to take a listen to a mix of all these tracks, head over the Spotify and follow the 2013 - Songs of the Year Playlist!!
Before we get to the top 10, let's give a nod to some of the honorable mentions. And since I only have so much time left this year, they're in alpha order (you don't want me trying to rank them all. I still have a job, yah know). Then we'll get down to business!
All right! Time for the top 10!!
That's it folks! Hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed putting it together in between getting ready for New Year's Eve. Now I'm off to party it out downstairs. Best to you and yours, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
This is an incredibly lovely song. I mean, it took some time to grow on me, but eventually I had a moment when no other stations were playing anything worth hearing and landed back on Cat Country where this was playing. When that happened, finally, I about melted in the car. I'm a sucker for driving songs to begin with, and with this one being about a love reignited by a song well, that was that.
Also, if you're wondering where Keith Urban is in this song, I think he's got the lead guitar part, and sings a few lines toward the end. I haven't watched the video yet though, so I reserve the right to stand corrected.
... and now I'm in tears.
Because songs define our moments.
