| I feel like the site I pull my TBT info from is fooling around with me here. Was this really the top song of 1989? I mean, I was only a year old, but I feel like I'm generally familiar with the top of the charts songs over the years. This was also the first number one single the group had after Peter Cetera left the group in 85. Diane Warren penned this one, and it came out in 1988, but was the 1989 chart topper (I'm conflicted now over what year to list it under. Sigh.) It's from a man's perspective of thinking a broken relationship might still have a chance - something she watched happen between a woman and her husband in her building. Gotta love how ideas can come from anywhere. |
